Welcoming Kathleen Murphy and Zach Nelson to the Snyk Board of Directors
January 24, 2022
0 mins readI’m excited to announce that both Kathleen Murphy and Zach Nelson have joined the Snyk Board of Directors effective as of January 1, 2022.
Kathleen (Kathy) and Zach join other recent Snyk Board Member additions, Mike Scarpelli, Chief Financial Officer, Snowflake (NYSE: SNOW), Sanjay Poonen, former Chief Operating Officer of VMware (NYSE: VMW), and Tamar Yehoshua, Chief Product Officer, Slack (now NYSE: CRM). Having well-respected, seasoned business leaders of this stature join us in our mission to make every one of the world’s developers secure is a true testament to the generational opportunity in front of us.
Kathy recently wrapped up 13 impactful years as President of Fidelity Personal Investing. She played a crucial role in changing the financial giant’s trajectory as it evolved from a traditional financial services company into a technology and digital innovator, growing Fidelity’s direct-to-consumer business from approximately $850 billion to $4.4 trillion.
In 2021, Snyk made great strides in the financial services realm as traditional banks and emerging fintech players alike race to implement digital initiatives. Kathy’s direct, deep knowledge of the space along with her “no whining allowed” leadership style will be invaluable as we seek to help more global financial institutions to digitally transform securely.
While Kathy built her career on the East Coast of the United States, Zach has spent much of his time on the opposite coast, holding a variety of executive positions at Silicon Valley tech leaders, including Oracle, Sun Microsystems, and McAfee. He’s most well known as the CEO of NetSuite from 2002–2017. In this time, he oversaw the company’s rise from a startup with annual sales of $1 million to one of the industry’s leading cloud computing players, with revenue of $1 billion and a customer base of over 30,000 organizations worldwide.
During his impressive, 15-year tenure, Zach led the company’s successful IPO in 2007, skillfully managed multiple high-impact acquisitions, and ultimately oversaw NetSuite's acquisition by Oracle for over $9 billion in 2016 (the third largest software acquisition by enterprise value in the industry). As we continue our current hypergrowth trajectory, I know myself and the entire Snyk Leadership Team will benefit immensely from Zach’s unparalleled wisdom and firsthand experience establishing NetSuite, widely acknowledged as one of the first SaaS pioneers.
Please give a warm Snyk welcome to both of them — we’re grateful to now have Kathy and Zach on this ride with us!
