A Day in the Life of a Strategy Co-Op in Snyk’s Boston Office

If you’ve been following Snyk on LinkedIn, you might have caught my recent video. I’m a Strategy Co-Op here, and answered the question, “What is it actually like to work at an AI security company in Boston?”

At Snyk, being a Co-Op is a full-immersion experience. I’m not just watching from the sidelines; I’m in the room, at the table, and part of the team. Here is a look at what a typical day looks like for me in our Boston office.

7:30 AM - Getting ready for my day

My day usually starts with making myself breakfast, packing my bag, and heading out the door to hop on the T to Snyk’s office on Summer Street.

Luckily, Phin Coffee House has the best matcha in Boston and is located right below our building, so I grab one before heading into the office!

9:00 AM - Fueled and focused

Now that I’ve been caffeinated, I can go “heads down” and answer messages, prepare for meetings, and make progress on important projects.

10:30 AM – Cross-collaboration and mentorship

I spend 30 minutes with my mentor discussing career goals and working through pain points in my current projects before joining a call with coworkers from different teams and across the globe. This cross-functional exposure is a huge bonus of the Co-Op program. I’m learning how Legal, Finance, Marketing, and Engineering each speak a different language to achieve the same goal.

12:30 PM – Lunch and a break

Lunch at Snyk is a big deal. We usually have a catered spread, and it’s a non-negotiable time to step away from the screen. I gather in the common area with my team to eat and decompress. This sense of community is why my video shows so many smiling faces—we genuinely enjoy being around each other.

After lunch, I decided to go on a little mental health walk with other Co-Ops to have some fresh air and grab a “sweet treat” before my afternoon meetings.

02:00 PM – Afternoon "impact" sessions

The afternoon is when things get high-energy. A highlight of my week is attending our "Impact" sessions.

In the video, you’ll see us in the conference rooms, leaning in and collaborating. These sessions are where we review our progress on major initiatives. As a Strategy Co-Op, I get a seat at the table during important discussions. Seeing a strategy move from a slide deck to a real-world implementation that helps a developer fix a critical vulnerability is incredibly rewarding. It turns the "work" into a mission.

04:30 PM – Wrapping up and reflections

As the Boston skyline starts to glow outside the windows, I wrap up my final notes for the day. Walking out of the office, I always feel a sense of accomplishment. I’m not just a student taking a break from classes; I’m a true "Snyker" helping to move the needle in the AI Security industry.

05:30 PM – Fitness and friends

I take the elevator down to our on-site gym for a quick workout and then walk a few blocks to meet up with friends for food. A great way to end my Day In the Life of a Snyker!

A: Not at all! I came in ready to learn. Snyk looks for people who are curious, proactive, and aligned with our values. Learning about “AI Security” and why Snyk is at the forefront comes naturally from there.

Q: What is the best part of Snyk’s Boston office?

A: Besides the cold brew on tap? It’s definitely the people. The Boston hub is a melting pot of top talent, and the energy is constant.
