Recently, we released the JVM Ecosystem Report 2021. This annual report is full of interesting facts about the current state of the Java ecosystem. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should give it a read. Don’t forget to download the full PDF for all the insightful information.

As usual, we base the annual report upon our annual Java Ecosystem Survey. This is a comprehensive set of questions to determine what Java developers use and prefer. This year’s survey was a little different than last year’s version. Short, concise, and you could choose multiple answers.

Additionally, and most excitingly, this year we committed to donating to an inspiring global nonprofit if we achieved a certain amount of responses. The great news is that we had more than 2200+ responses to the survey and therefore unlocked a $1000 donation to Devoxx4Kids. This organization teaches youth about electronics via programming robots and developing computer games!

At Snyk, we believe that helping the community like this is not just important, but also our duty. However, we couldn’t have done this without all the amazing participants that filled in the survey. Not only did you help shape a picture of the ecosystem’s current state, but you helped support Devoxx4Kids, a nonprofit that’s building pathways and helping develop future Java Ecosystem leaders around the world.

Doing good together

It is part of our mission at Snyk to “care deeply” and do good for communities where we live and work.  We’re thankful for all the survey takers who helped us support Devoxx4Kids’ important mission of empowering the future leaders of our industry.  We’re also thankful for the great folks at Azul Systems that helped us create the survey. Finally, we wanted to honor Bry Breckenridge (Head of Snyk Impact) and Leigh Moore (VP Growth Marketing & Community at Snyk) for enabling Snyk and our ecosystem to embed positive social impact in everything we do. Let’s see if we can top this exciting ecosystem plus societal win in the next edition!

About Devoxx4Kids

Devoxx4Kids is a non-profit organization that organizes events worldwide where children can develop computer games, program robots, and also have an introduction to electronics. With events all over the world including countries in Western Europe and the USA, but also, Brazil, India, Pakistan, Cameroon, South Africa, Philippines, and many more.

Their goal is to teach Computer Programming to children and show that it’s possible to do something more creative with computers than just watching YouTube videos or posting comments on Facebook. We hope you’ll consider supporting them too!
