On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, and while expected, it was nonetheless devastating news. Today, American women have fewer constitutional rights than their mothers and grandmothers had.

At Snyk, we believe that every person should have the right to make a decision about their own reproductive health. As citizens, parents and leaders, we feel we have the responsibility to take a stand and fight back.

When the leaked opinion first surfaced last month, we assured Snykers that we were strongly committed to standing by our employees and their families no matter where they reside in the U.S. On Friday, we internally communicated a number of initial actions as a result of the official ruling.

First, with complete confidentiality and the utmost sensitivity, we will cover expenses for employees who need to travel for critical reproductive care. Through Snyk Impact, we also made an initial donation of USD $25,000 to Planned Parenthood in support of their efforts to increase access to reproductive health information and services to families around the world. Snyk Impact will also continue matching eligible employee donations to nonprofits that support a woman’s right and opportunity to choose. Finally, we will continue to evolve our health benefits package to ensure that every Snyker (and their families) has safe access to reproductive care long-term.

We stand with the broad majority of Americans who did not want to see Roe v. Wade overturned. This fight is not over. To paraphrase Margaret Mead: never doubt that a group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. By putting our shared values into action, we know that many Snykers will work hard in the weeks and months ahead to turn this tide and protect our rights at the U.S. federal, state and local levels. We’ll be supporting them every step of the way.
