We’re thrilled to announce that Snyk has been named a Leader in the 2023 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Application Security Testing!

Snyk was named in the Magic Quadrant for Application Security Testing (AST), for the first time, as a Visionary in 2021. And today, we’re excited and honored to announce that Gartner has recognized us in the Leaders Quadrant in the 2023 Magic Quadrant report. In addition to this report, Snyk was peer-recognized as a Customers’ Choice in the 2022 Gartner Peer Insights™ “Voice of the Customer”: Application Security Testing

“Gartner observes that the evolution of the AST market is largely driven by the need to support enterprise DevSecOps and cloud-native application initiatives. Customers require offerings that provide high-assurance, high-value findings, while not slowing down development efforts unnecessarily. Clients expect offerings to fit into the development process at an earlier stage, with testing often driven by developers, rather than security specialists. As a result, this market evaluation focuses heavily on the buyer's needs, including support for rapid and accurate testing of various application types and the ability to integrate into software delivery workflows with an increasing level of automation.” - 2023 Gartner Magic Quadrant

Developer security is more important than ever, and Snyk has been at the forefront of the "shift left" and DevSecOps movements. As the market for developer security continues to progress from early adopters to the early majority, we're excited about the road ahead. Application security teams want to continue moving away from auditing and creating tickets, enabling developers to create apps that are secure by design, with contextual guardrails that encompass the entire application lifecycle from code to cloud. Similarly, developers want to avoid future rework and know their choices are safe. Application security posture management (ASPM) brings all of these concerns together in a single source of truth, and the Snyk developer security platform will deliver on the promise of ASPM.

“A 2021 Gartner survey of software engineering leaders found that over half of respondents had primary responsibility for the security of the applications they build. While this may seem to slow the pace of production (“velocity”), especially at first, fixing vulnerabilities as early as possible saves money, time, and energy in the long term.” – 2023 Gartner Magic Quadrant

As the first application to deliver on the ability to go from the cloud back to code, staying on the cutting edge remains a priority for us. Snyk has empowered users to link issues discovered in the live cloud environment back to their source in code, so that the correct team of engineers can be notified and quickly remediate issues at their source. Additionally, at our recent SnykLaunch event in April, we released our developer-focused application security support for C/C++, enabling developers to quickly and easily create and maintain secure applications in this complex and rich ecosystem. We also unveiled a brand new AI-powered capability to deliver code security fixes to developers directly in their IDE. Our unique hybrid approach to AI ensures that developers get fast and reliable fixes, while leaving the humans (you and your developers) in full control.

We designed the Snyk Developer Security Platform to meet developers where they work, by making security a natural part of their daily work, prioritizing findings, and automating fixes. Our acquisition of TopCoat and Fugue have aided this by providing enhanced reporting capabilities and extending our security coverage to IaC and cloud — giving security teams the tools they need to meet compliance requirements and govern at every stage of development.

We’re proud and grateful to be receiving this recognition from Gartner, and we believe that we wouldn’t be where we are today without our incredible community of users, partners, and internal Snyk-ers. We’d like to give a huge thank you to everyone who has worked with us to make Snyk what it is today and ensure that we stay on the cutting edge of developer security.
