Snyk 6th Birthday + NFT gifts!

This past Saturday marked the 6th anniversary of Snyk! To celebrate, we've released 600 NFTs of a dressed-up Patch (our mascot/logo/pet) for Snyk users, customers, friends, and fans. There are 60 different variants with 10 copies of each, and you can be their proud digital owner. If you’re not familiar with them, NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are digital collectibles or digital art that you can own. It’s as if we printed 600 cards with unique Patch images and sent them to you by physical mail – except it’s all digital.

NFTs have a lot of commercial hype around them, but that’s not what we were aiming for. We chose a blockchain called Wax, as opposed to more popular ones like Ethereum, because it's environmentally friendly and can be used for low or no cost — which means it can be used for just plain fun. And that's what this is to me, a fun way to celebrate by reversing the gift giving process. Happy birthday to us, here's a present for you.

Looking back at the past 6 years, I couldn't be happier with where Snyk is now and where we'll be in the future. We've gone from a tool for open source dependency vulnerability management (Software Composition Analysis) to a developer security platform that secures your code, dependencies, containers, and cloud infrastructure.

More importantly, our small community of forward-thinking developers who believed that security should be a natural part of software development grew to a big and powerful one. Over 10,000 developers and security experts are joining us at SnykCon, looking to define and advance the art of developer security, learn from one another, and just have fun.

Our journey is just getting started, both for Snyk and our amazing community. The industry is changing, and change is hard, but it’s so worth it — embedding security into dev is the only way to secure our digital lives. I want to thank all of you who’ve been helping drive this mission forward, and helping us at Snyk build the right tools for the job for the last 6 years — and hopefully the next 6 and beyond.
