We are thrilled to announce that Snyk has acquired DevSecCon, the world’s premier conference dedicated to DevSecOps – getting developers and security working well together!

Together, Snyk and the DevSecCon team, led by Francois Raynaud, will partner to maintain a vendor neutral home dedicated to growing and strengthening the DevSecOps community with additional support and resources, including 9 global conferences in the remainder of 2019 and 2020.

Snyk is partnering with the DevSecCon founding team to maintain all of the aspects of the conferences that make it unique and valuable; while investing in areas where it can become stronger and more impactful for current members and the broader DevSecOps community.

What happens next?

We acquired DevSecCon because we think it’s awesome, so our first rule is “do no harm”. The events will continue running as always, helping speakers share their expertise with the attendees looking to learn, let sponsors engage in helpful conversations, and do all of this in an inclusive, safe and fun surrounding. Beyond that, we will help DevSecCon grow, developing events and launching additional ones, as well as adding a virtual community to match. We are not turning it into a Snyk user conference, and will continue working with our vendor-neutral programming committee to ensure we find the best talks for our audience.

We want to make sure this is done right, with a clear mission statement:

We commit to supporting and growing the DevSecCon community around the world, keeping it *the* premier vendor-neutral community and conference for DevSec professionals to connect and learn from each other. We will prioritize making DevSecCon an inclusive, diverse and safe community.

As the new stewards of DevSecCon, it’s important to us that we put as much as we can into making the community as successful as we can, providing as much value as we can to our members. To help that cause, DevSecCon will be run as a non-profit event with every penny benefiting community members.

We’re looking forward to introducing a lot of new initiatives to further improve the DevSecCon community and we plan to roll them out gradually over the next 6-12 months. For now, we want to highlight three of our goals we’re really excited about:

1. Build the DevSecCon online/virtual experience

We love the vibrant community atmosphere DevSecCon attracts across various events around the world. But we don’t want to see that energy and interaction stop once an event finishes. We’ll be working hard to build up this community online, creating and sharing many DevSecOps resources as well as continuing the conversation after an event has finished.

2. Develop an official inclusion and diversity program

We will take steps to ensure inclusivity remains a high priority at DevSecCon including a new program for speakers and attendees that will ensure everyone gets a chance to be involved with DevSecCon. We’ll be making announcements for new diversity spaces for attendees and looking for diversity sponsors to support this initiative leading up to our 2020 events.

3. Grow the community of DevSec speakers

It’s always hard to break into the speaker circuit, particularly when there are plenty of amazing speakers already filling a packed conference schedule. We’d like to grow the number of speakers, particularly those that are local to the conferences, by creating new speaker and buddy programs encouraging new talent and the growth of existing speakers.

And, we are excited to announce DevSecCon Tel Aviv!

In addition to the two remaining conferences planned for 2019 (Seattle and London), we’d like to announce another event in Tel Aviv, on November 5th, 2019 at the Riverside @ the Daniel Rowing Center. Learn more about this new event here.

Want to get involved?

We’ll be making additional announcements about how we’ll be growing DevSecCon and we’d love you to join us at one of our upcoming conferences in 2019.
