Upgrade node
to version 16.20.2, 18.17.1, 20.5.1 or higher.
Overview
node is a JavaScript runtime built on Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine.
Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Arbitrary Code Injection. The use of the deprecated API process.binding()
can bypass the policy mechanism by requiring internal modules and eventually take advantage of process.binding('spawn_sync')
to run arbitrary code, outside of the limits defined in a policy.json
file.
Note:
At the time this advisory was issued, the policy is an experimental feature of Node.js, which is not enabled by default.
