CWE-15  (opens in a new tab)

How to fix?

Upgrade node to version 18.5.0 or higher.

Overview

node is a JavaScript runtime built on Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine.

Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Configuration Hijacking when, on linux based systems, it looks for the file openssl.cnf under /home/iojs/build/ws/out/Release/obj.target/deps/openssl/ which ordinarily doesn't exist. Attackers could place a malicious file at that location to supplant configuration options.
