A commitment to future generations: Snyk’s 2024 Student Edition Capture The Flag Recap

0 minutes de lectureLast week, we were thrilled to host our first-ever Capture The Flag (CTF) 101 Workshop for Students this year. As part of our commitment to Service for America, in partnership with the Office of the National Cyber Director at The White House, this event brought together students from over 100 schools worldwide, giving them a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on learning and develop critical cybersecurity skills.
CTFs are immersive, gamified experiences that challenge participants to solve real-world security problems. For students, these events are invaluable. They offer a safe, practical environment to learn about application security, network vulnerabilities, cryptography, and more. Participants actively tackle scenarios that mirror the challenges they’ll face in the field. This workshop provided students with the knowledge on how to get started with CTF competitions.
As Snyk highlighted in 2022, there is a knowledge gap in cybersecurity and a skills gap in the industry. Snyk Learn and these events are here to help bridge those gaps. Snyk Learn offers free cybersecurity education and training for everyone—yes, free!
This year’s event was just the beginning. In 2025, we’ll be back with more opportunities for students to dive into hands-on learning experiences. As part of our ongoing commitment to Service for America, we’ve pledged to host 10 free training sessions annually through our Snyk Learn platform. One of these will remain exclusively for students, equipping them with the cybersecurity skills they need to thrive in the digital workforce.
At Snyk, we’re also continually developing new, free content to help learners—from beginners to seasoned professionals—stay ahead in the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape.
