How to fix?

Upgrade Centos:8 shadow-utils to version 2:4.6-19.el8 or higher.

NVD Description

Note: Versions mentioned in the description apply only to the upstream shadow-utils package and not the shadow-utils package as distributed by Centos. See How to fix? for Centos:8 relevant fixed versions and status.

A flaw was found in shadow-utils. When asking for a new password, shadow-utils asks the password twice. If the password fails on the second attempt, shadow-utils fails in cleaning the buffer used to store the first entry. This may allow an attacker with enough access to retrieve the password from the memory.
