high severity
- Vulnerable module: org.eclipse.parsson:parsson
- Introduced through: org.glassfish.jersey.media:jersey-media-moxy@5.0.0-M1
Detailed paths
-
Introduced through: mixaverros88/java-api@mixaverros88/java-api › org.glassfish.jersey.media:jersey-media-moxy@5.0.0-M1 › org.eclipse.parsson:parsson@1.1.7
Overview
Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling due to the lack of enforced limits in the parser when processing JSON input. An attacker can cause excessive CPU and memory consumption by submitting very large or deeply nested JSON documents, potentially leading to resource exhaustion and service unavailability.
Remediation
Upgrade org.eclipse.parsson:parsson to version 1.1.8 or higher.

- Vulnerable module: org.eclipse.angus:angus-mail

Introduced through: mixaverros88/java-api@mixaverros88/java-api › org.glassfish.jersey.media:jersey-media-moxy@5.0.0-M1 › org.eclipse.persistence:org.eclipse.persistence.moxy@5.0.0-B09 › org.eclipse.angus:angus-mail@2.0.3
Overview
org.eclipse.angus:angus-mail is an Angus Mail Provider.
Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Neutralization via the handling of SMTP message input. An attacker can inject arbitrary SMTP commands by supplying specially crafted input containing carriage return and line feed characters.
Note:
This is only exploitable if the provided dependency org.eclipse.angus:smtp is used.
Remediation
Upgrade org.eclipse.angus:angus-mail to version 2.0.4 or higher.

Introduced through: mixaverros88/java-api@mixaverros88/java-api › org.glassfish.jersey.core:jersey-server@4.0.0-M2 › jakarta.validation:jakarta.validation-api@3.1.0
Overview
Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Improper Validation of Specified Type of Input in the run method of the ProviderSpecificBootstrapImpl class in Validation.java, which passes a caller influenced action to the single argument form of AccessController.doPrivileged, dropping the calling thread's restricted ProtectionDomain from the access control stack. Code running in a restricted domain can execute an arbitrary class's no-arg constructor under the library's broader permissions by passing any Class object to Validation.byProvider through a raw or unchecked cast, since the generic bound is erased and NewProviderInstance.run reaches clazz.newInstance before the cast to ValidationProvider is attempted. Exploitation requires a JVM running with a SecurityManager, a code source for the library granted more permissions than the caller, the ability to run code in process, and a reachable class in a privileged domain whose public no-arg constructor performs a security checked side effect, and the gadget's own ProtectionDomain stays on the stack so a self defined class yields nothing.
Note: Only deployments on JDK releases before 24 are affected. The run helper elevates privilege only when System.getSecurityManager() returns non-null, and JEP 486 permanently disabled the Security Manager in JDK 24.
Remediation
Upgrade jakarta.validation:jakarta.validation-api to version 4.0.0-M1 or higher.
